Brisbane
Australia’s new world city, Brisbane is an emerging economic powerhouse and gateway to the Asia-Pacific. Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and home to key employment areas including the Brisbane Central Business District, Brisbane Airport, the Port of Brisbane, and the Southwest Industrial Gateway. As the closest Australian capital city on the eastern seaboard to Asia, Brisbane offers an attractive business environment in a region supporting an ever-increasing share of global economic growth.
Brisbane is a major hub for large resource and energy companies, a significant centre for research and innovation, and the engine room of much of Australia’s continued economic growth. The city's economy has surged past $200 billion, positioning Brisbane as one of the fastest-growing urban economies in Australia.
Brisbane City Council is planning for the future by ensuring the city has the infrastructure and services required for future generations, supported by a pipeline of major projects valued at over $100 billion. Since 2022, employment has increased by 274,000. Currently, Brisbane is estimated to have 863,000 jobs, with projections of growth to 1.8 million jobs by 2046.
Why Brisbane?
In 2025, Brisbane recorded an annual growth rate of 6%, the highest of any capital city in Australia. This significant growth can largely be attributed to the rising demand for interstate migration, with the population of Greater Brisbane increasing by 9.2% over the past four years. Additionally, home values in Brisbane have grown by 17.3% in the last 12 months.
Brisbane is set to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032, which is expected to bring economic and social benefits estimated at $8 billion. This major sporting event will create over 90,000 jobs within Queensland and over 120,000 jobs throughout Australia. The planned infrastructure improvements for the event are anticipated to enhance Brisbane's desirability, providing lasting benefits to the city even after the two-week event concludes. Brisbane is an ideal place to live, work and relax.
