Top regions for internal migration

Five regions have recorded internal migration growth over 200%, these are Port Pirie, Gladstone, Murray Bridge, Glen Innes Severn, and York.

Port Pirie in South Australia has first place with an increase of 347% and Gladstone has been announced in second place for highest-growth regional areas of net internal migration with a 292% increase. Gladstone has also seen a 336% in growth from capital migration in 2022, compared to 2021. The data indicates regional areas are attracting thousands of metro movers. The opportunities that thriving regional economies offer are attracting many to move. Murray Bridge and Gladstone are also in the top ten most popular destinations for regional-to-regional movers in 2022 compared to 2021.
