Fortescue officially opens world-leading electrolyser manufacturing facility in Gladstone.

A new green energy manufacturing centre in Gladstone has officially opened. The 15,000 sqm world-leading manufacturing facility was constructed and fully commissioned in just over 2 years and will have the capacity to produce over 2GW of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser stacks annually. The project is strengthening Australia's manufacturing capability with the facility producing green hydrogen at an industrial scale. The Australian Government supported Fortescue Future Industries by contributing $44.9 million from the Collaboration Stream of the Modern Manufacturing Initiative and supported the development of the site. The facility is the first stage of a Green Energy Manufacturing Centre on the 100-hectare Gladstone site, the next phases will include a hydrogen system testing facility and Fortescue’s PEM50 green hydrogen project.
